Today is World Hepatitis Day.
Hepatitis A and B are both vaccine preventable diseases. Your risk of Hepatitis A and B increases with overseas travel and in high risk groups.
If you are planning a trip to many popular holiday destinations including Bali or Fiji then hepatitis vaccination is recommended for both adults and children.
Hepatitis B vaccination is recommended for (and currently available for free in Victoria to):
household contacts and sexual partners of people living with Hepatitis B
people who inject drugs or who are on opioid substitution therapy
people living with Hepatitis C
men who have sex with men
people living with HIV
people no longer in a custodial setting who commenced, but did not complete, a free Hepatitis B vaccine course while in custody.
Book an appointment to speak to GP if you think you may be eligible.
