Dr Mark Benton, is a GP and Sports Doctor.
He has a particular interest in Sport and Exercise Medicine for people of all ages, and can assist with all sport and exercise related conditions including:
injuries, including paediatric sports injuries;
concussion;
exercise induced asthma;
fatigue (including sport and exercise performance issues);
safe exercise for people with chronic conditions including cardiac conditions, diabetes and hypertension;
safe exercise in pregnancy and post-partum; and
contraceptive advice for female athletes.
Dr Mark understands the needs of people wanting to be healthy and active, as well as the frustration of medical issues and injuries.
He has wide-ranging experience in managing sports injuries and musculoskeletal problems and working in professional sports including rugby, soccer, and AFL. He spent a number of years in event medicine and has been the lead doctor in large scale international tournaments for a UK national team. Mark has a specialist interest in knee and ankle injuries, especially tendinopathies and is currently part of the medical team for North Melbourne Football Club.
For a sport and exercise medicine consultation, our normal time-based fees apply - normally a long consultation is required for an initial consultation, so the fee is $172.90 (with a $82.90 Medicare rebate, and with a $15 discount applying to pension and healthcare card holders).
