North Brighton Medical advises that we have changed our Privacy Policy effective 16 August 2019.
You can read the updated Privacy Policy here. Below is a summary of the significant changes made to the Privacy Policy:
We’ve clarified the ways in which we might collect personal information about you. In particular, we’ve added that we might collect information from your parent, guardian or responsible person, or a relative or friend if they attend an appointment with you or if they contact us.
We’ve added images (including photos, videos, x-rays and scans) to the list of types of information we might collect about you.
We have added a section noting that we report patient data to our primary health network to use for population health and research purposes, however all such data is de-identified. If you do not wish to have your de-identified data reported, please notify us to opt-out.
We’ve added a new section about information collected about people under the age of 16. We clarify that while a parent or guardian of a child under the age of 16 will normally have a right to medical information about that child, there may be circumstances where medical information about a child is withheld if necessary to protect the right of a child to privacy.
We’ve amended the section about how we store personal information, as we have changed the software we use in the practice.
We’ve added details of the minimum amount of time we are required to store medical records under law.
We’ve added contact details for the Health Complaints Commissioner in the event you wish to make a privacy related complaint about a matter you think we have not dealt with properly. This is an alternative to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) which was already detailed in the Privacy Policy.
